iamstonefoltz FOUNDATION to be featured in 丝瓜视频鈥檚 annual Freligh Community Lecture Series

丝瓜视频 will welcome Shari and Cory Foltz, creators of the “iamstonefoltz FOUNDATION,” for its annual Freligh Community Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22 in Dawson Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
The speakers will discuss their late son’s experience with fraternity hazing, in this series titled “Never Leave Anyone Behind.” The Foltzs created the iamstonefoltz Foundation in honor of their son, Stone Justin Foltz, who joined Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) as a sophomore in late February 2021. Less than a month after joining the fraternity, Stone tragically passed away from alcohol poisoning three days after attending a new member initiation hazing event. Six of the eight young men involved in the ritual were charged with manslaughter.
The iamstonefoltz nonprofit organization says it focuses on maximizing the giving effort of others by aligning with organizations that find methods to keep the giving actions alive. Any donations the foundation receives go to other like-minded nonprofit organizations.
Stone’s parents believe he was a hero in many ways, noting on the foundation’s website, iamstonefoltz.com, “He did amazing acts of kindness throughout his life that had long lasting impacts on the lives of others. The iamstonefoltz FOUNDATION is dedicated to keeping the memory of Stone alive and to bring acts of kindness to others.”
The foundation’s peace sign logo was created in dedication of Stone as he was frequently seen using the sign, especially when his photo was taken.
“Stone’s smile was contagious,” Shari said. “It would light up a room instantly the moment he walked in… To know Stone was to know his smile, his kind heart and his peace sign!”
Stone dreamed of owning a fashion business one day so he joined BGSU in the Fall of 2019 to work on a business degree. He was also an avid Ohio State football and basketball fan and loved playing high school basketball and lacrosse.
Stone’s parents describe their son as being, “a kind, gentle, caring person who was always there for others and especially for his family. Stone was that guy who was always looking out for others and making sure they knew they had someone to talk with when they needed an ear to listen. He was that loyal friend that everyone wants in their life!”
Stone died on March 7, 2021 and according to his wishes, his organs were donated.
The Freligh Community Lecture Series honors Bob and Jean Lok Freligh, longtime supporters and friends of 丝瓜视频. An anonymous donation to honor the Frelighs was made in 2013 and has brought many nationally and internationally known speakers to 丝瓜视频.
