Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ is ranked No. 2 among the 2022-2023 Most Innovative Schools for Regional Colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report, and No. 3 (tie) in Best Undergraduate Teaching.
Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ is listed by the media company in its best “Regional Colleges, Midwest” section for the ninth-consecutive year, placing 19th (tie). U.S. News & World Report also ranked Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ No. 12 in Best Value Schools (9th consecutive ranking), No. 21 in First Year Experience, and No. 42 (tie) in Top Performers in Social Mobility.
Now in its 38th year, the U.S. News & World Report rankings evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and universities.
The Most Innovative Schools designation recognizes colleges and universities that are making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, students, campus life, technology or facilities.
Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ President Jeffrey Docking said the single-most important thing Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ can do for its students and community is to inspire a culture of innovation and critical thinking.
“Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ recognizes the need for students to be fueled by innovative academic programs, forward-thinking projects, and inspirational surroundings,” Docking said. “It is very gratifying to see Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ recognized by national publications and peer colleges as a distinctive and innovative educational leader in the United States.”
Christine Knaggs, Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Dean of Graduate Studies and Institutional Effectiveness, was excited to see Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ improved on its ranking for Undergraduate Teaching and moved up two positions.
“We have dedicated faculty who deliver high quality education, and engage our students in a variety of experiential learning and classroom experiences, including internships, research, and study abroad opportunities,” Knaggs said.
To determine which colleges and universities offer the best values for students, U.S. News & World Report factors academic quality and cost after accounting for total expenses and financial aid.
U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with helpful data and information on factors such as graduation rates, social mobility, and graduate indebtedness.

Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ is a traditional four-year residential institution offering a focused undergraduate education and traditional two year Master’s programs as well as advanced 3+2 Master’s programs. The college currently offers 71 undergraduate programs, 10 graduate programs, six pre-professional programs, and 62 minors and certificates, with a 1-to-15 faculty to student ratio.
