6 Clinical Semesters including:
- EMT School
- A variety of settings and patient populations
- A clinical immersion for one full semester, potentially anywhere in the country
Requirements to Begin Clinical Rotations: For the health and safety of all athletic training students and the patients they work with, there are specific academic and health requirements that must be met prior to beginning clinical rotations during an undergraduate’s junior year. Please refer to the for more information.

Preceptors - Past and Present
“Preceptors supervise and engage students in clinical education. All preceptors must be licensed healthcare professionals and be credentialed by the state in which they practice” (2020 CAATE Standards).
To improve the quality of athletic training student clinical experiences, each preceptor is hand selected and trained by our Coordinator of Clinical Education. This ensures that all preceptors are very familiar with the philosophy of our program and how to maximize our athletic training students’ education. We hold regular meetings for our preceptors to make sure that they are up-to-date on the latest treatment and educational techniques. We have a very strong network of healthcare professionals surrounding ˿Ƶ and are very proud to have the opportunity to send our students into the community.
Caleb Christie
MS, AT, ATC
Caleb Christie joined the ˿Ƶ athletic training staff in 2020 as an intern before transitioning to being an assistant athletic trainer in 2021. Prior to ˿Ƶ, Caleb spent two years at Utah State University as a graduate assistant, where he worked with their football and track & field/cross country teams. Caleb earned his master’s degree in health and human services, with a sports medicine emphasis, from Utah State, following his undergraduate degree in athletic training and exercise science from Saginaw Valley State University.
Jamie Fetter
MS, AT, ATC
Jamie Fetter began as the head athletic trainer at ˿Ƶ in 2004. Before coming to ˿Ƶ, Jamie spent seven years at Tiffin University as the head athletic trainer, overseeing all aspects of the athletic training department. Jamie earned his master’s degree from Ohio University in 1997 and his bachelor’s degree from Defiance College in 1996. In addition to heading up athletic medicine at ˿Ƶ, Jamie is a preceptor and an adjunct professor for the department of Exercise Science & Athletic Training. Additionally, Jamie works for the NFL as an AT Spotter. Jamie is married to his wife, Stephanie, and they have three kids, Tyson, Brook and Trenton.
Laura Glasgow
MA AT, ATC
Laura is the athletic trainer at ˿Ƶ High School, graduating from Central Michigan University in 2018 with her BS in Athletic Training and a minor in Substance Abuse Education, Prevention and Treatment. In 2021, she graduated from Siena Heights University with an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Laura is also a Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC). She is a big advocate for mental health and works to further understand the connections between mental health and physical health for athletes.
David Hamen
ATC
Dave has been the Athletic Trainer at Whitmer High School in Toledo, Ohio since the spring of 2008. Dave brings a wide array of experiences to the Athletic Training field and enjoys giving back to the profession. Dave provides a great hands-on approach to Athletic Training at his site. He interned with the New York Yankees and Oakland Raiders and has experience working with minor league hockey and arena football. Dave graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2003. He is a proud husband and father and a self-proclaimed sports and video game junkie.
Dan Hudson
MS, AT, ATC, NASM-PES
Dan began his career at the Hillsdale College Sports Medicine and Performance program in 2017 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer working with the football and baseball teams. In the summer of 2021 Dan was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer for Hillsdale College and currently works primarily with the football and swimming teams. In addition, Dan is also a performance coach for Hillsdale College working with the tennis teams in the weight room for strength, conditioning & injury prevention. Dan graduated from ˿Ƶ in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, and in 2017 with a Master’s degree in Athletic Training.
Mikayla Kemp
MS, ATC
Mikayla began her career at Hillsdale College in the fall of 2018 as a part-time trainer and was promoted to full-time in September of 2020. Her primary responsibilities include working with women’s basketball and softball teams. Prior to working at Hillsdale College, she served as the primary athletic trainer at Hillsdale High School for two years. Coming from Niles, Michigan, Mikayla graduated from ˿Ƶ in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, and in 2018 with her Master’s degree in Athletic Training.

Justin currently serves as an assistant athletic trainer for Siena Heights University. He earned his B.S. in Athletic Training from Eastern Michigan University in 2016 and his Master’s degree in Leadership in Higher Education from Siena Heights University.
Jim Nicknair

Jim Nicknair began at ˿Ƶ in 2013. Jim, a native of Glenburn, Maine, earned his B.S. degree in Athletic Training from The University of Southern Maine in 2011. He went to earn his M.S. degree in Athletic Training from Ohio University in 2013.
Lorie Robinette
MS, AT, ATC
Lorie has been the head athletic trainer at Siena Heights University since 2005. Prior to her position there, she worked as the athletic trainer at Tecumseh High School. She earned her master’s degree at Ohio University while working as a graduate assistant in athletic training at Ferris State. Lorie has been a preceptor for ˿Ƶ since 2008 and is also an adjunct professor for the Department of Exercise Science & Athletic Training.
Sean Tilley
MS, ATC
Sean Tilley began his work for St. Francis De Sales High School in 2021 providing athletic training services to the Knights through Mercy Health. Prior to his association with St. Francis De Sales High School, Sean worked with the 2010 BCS National Champion Auburn Tigers Football team as both an intern and graduate assistant. From 2013-2019, Sean was the Head Athletic Trainer for Auburn Track & Field, as well as Cross Country. Sean is a graduate of Central Michigan University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. From CMU he continued his education at Auburn University, where he obtained his Master’s degree in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology.
Katie Ohlman, RN
Katie Ohlman is an athletic trainer and registered nurse. Prior to her current position as an emergency room nurse, Katie earned her BA from Hope College in 2005. She worked at Onsted High School for six years as an outreach AT through Promedica Sports Care. In 2011, Katie graduated from Jackson Community College with an associate of science-nursing degree and now works as an RN in the Emergency Department at both Promedica Bixby and Herrick Hospitals.
Todd Nighswander, MPT
Todd Nighswander is the clinical manager at Athletico in ˿Ƶ, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Science in Health Science from the University of Michigan and went on to earn a master’s in Physical Therapy at U of M. He has completed extensive continued education coursework, including advanced evaluation and treatment techniques for knees and shoulders, spinal coursework—including McKenzie evaluation and treatment, lower extremity biomechanics and its role in injury evaluation—and custom foot orthotics. He specializes in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine and prides himself in establishing solid relationships with his patients, enabling him to treat not just the injury itself, but the patient as a whole.
Anthony Rossi MS, AT, ATC, CSCS, NREMT
Anthony Rossi earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from ˿Ƶ in 2014 and then earned his Master of Science in Athletic Training the following year. Anthony joined the Athletic Training Staff in 2015 and is working primarily with Football, Men’s and Women’s Wrestling and Men’s Lacrosse. Anthony is originally from Milford, MI and played ACHA Hockey for ˿Ƶ from 2010-2014. Anthony is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician.
Lynne Neukom MS, AT, ATC
Lynne Neukom is the Head Athletic Trainer at Hillsdale College. She is a 1991 graduate of Hillsdale College, and has a master’s degree with an emphasis in athletic training from Western Michigan University. In the fall of 2009, Lynne began work on her Ph.D. She resides in Hillsdale with her husband, Jake, and their three children.
Stacy Robinson EMT-P, CCEMt-P, IC, BS, MPA
EMS Instructor Stacy Robinson is a Captain/Paramedic with the Charter Township of Madison’s Fire Department. Captain Robinson is a certified Firefighter II and Fire Officer III in the State of Michigan and is the EMS Education Course Coordinator of the Madison Charter Township Fire Departments EMS Education Division. Captain Robinson holds EMS certifications and licenses as a Paramedic in Michigan and Ohio, National certification as a Critical Care Paramedic, State of Michigan EMS Instructor Coordinator, among other specialty course instructor level certifications in pediatric and adult EMS education. Captain Robinson has obtained his Bachelor’s degree, B.S. in Biology, from Grand Valley State University and a Master’s degree, MPA with a general concentration in Emergency Services Management, from Columbia Southern University.
Caitlyn Hensel, AT, ATC
Caitlyn Hensel is the head athletic trainer for Clinton High School. She started working for Clinton in February 2017. She works for Probility Physical Therapy as well. Caitlyn Graduated from Aquinas College in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in athletic training.
Tyler Cortright, MS, AT, ATC,CSCS
Tyler is the Director of Sports Medicine and Performance at Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, MI. He earned his B.S. from Hope College in 2009 and his Masters degree in Sports Administration from the California University of Pennsylvania in 2011.
Leah Gomez, MS, AT, ATC
Leah earned her BA in Kinesiology at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI; Master of Science in Health and Human Performance, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga, TN; GA Athletic Training, University Wisconsin-Whitewater; Certified in Applied Functional Science. Leah currently lives in Tecumseh with her husband Adan and her son Maximus.
Dr. Eric Leikert, DO
Dr. Eric Leikert completed his medical residency in family medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine at Beaumont Health System in metro Detroit. He is dual board certified in these specialties. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and his Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical sciences and chemistry from Western Michigan University. Dr. Leikert practices sports medicine, family/general medicine, and osteopathic manipulative treatment.
Dr. Aron Gornowicz, DO, FAOASM, OT
Dr. Aron Gornowicz is a dual board-certified physician in family and sports medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine and his fellowship in sports medicine at Garden City Hospital in Garden City, MI. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and his Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University. Dr. Gornowicz practices sports medicine, family/general medicine, and osteopathic manipulative treatment.
Dr. Michael Diment, MD
Dr.Diment is an orthopedic surgeon in ˿Ƶ, Michigan and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including ProMedica Bixby Hospital and ProMedica Flower Hospital. He received his medical degree from University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Lieutenant and Paramedic with 15 years of service at the Madison Township Fire Department. Currently serving as the department's training officer. Also employed as a Senior Paramedic for Lenawee Community Ambulance. Along with years of EMS experience, Ray has worked 9 years in the emergency room at Bixby and Herrick Hospitals as a Clinical Associate.

Brian S McEwan is a Physical Therapy Specialist in ˿Ƶ, Michigan. He graduated with honors in 1991. Having more than 26 years of diverse experiences, especially in Physical Therapy.
Kristie Jones, ATC, PA
Received her masters of science in physician assistant studies from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She received her bachelors of arts in exercise science and athletic training at ˿Ƶ. Kristie previously worked eight years for the University of Michigan Health System Department of Orthopedic Surgery. She currently works with Dr. Diment providing diagnostic therapeutic and preventative services to patients of all ages with any orthopedic condition.

Josh is a Lieutenant Paramedic with the Madison Township Fire Department and has been working in fire service for more than 12 years. He is an instructor for EMS and Fire, as well as Haz-mat Tech, county hazmat officer and instructor for the Michigan State Police hazmat training center.

Kelsie VanBeelen joined the athletic training staff at ˿Ƶ in August, 2017. Kelsie works primarily with women’s volleyball, wrestling, and baseball. Prior to joining ˿Ƶ, she worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the men’s soccer team at California University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with her Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2017. She has an additional certification as a Performance Enhancement Specialist. Kelsie received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Western Michigan University in 2015 and was a member of the co-ed cheerleading team from 2011-2015. Kelsie is originally from St. Johns, Michigan.

Rebecca graduated from ˿Ƶ with a Master’s degree in Athletic Training in May of 2019. Rebecca began her career with Henry Ford Health System. Through the Henry Ford Health System, Rebecca was assigned to Columbia Central High School, where she is the Head Athletic Trainer, providing medical care for athletes on and off the field.
Claire Coates, MS, ATC, CES, WFS
A native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Claire Coates graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology majoring in Athletic Training. She continued her education at the University of Florida, earning a Master of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training and a specialization in Strength & Conditioning. She worked as an athletic trainer at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida and as Co-Head Athletic Trainer at Oakland University prior to Michigan Athletics beginning in 2016. She serves as a preceptor with the Michigan School of Kinesiology and ˿Ƶ Athletic Training Education Programs and is the athletic department liaison for the Michigan Organization of Athletic Training Students.
Dan Meier, MS, ATC
Dan started at the University of Michigan in June 2019 with Aquatics. He is responsible for the medical care of the Swimming and Diving athletes as well as the supervisor of the Water Polo Athletic Training Fellow. Prior to working with the U of M, Dan was the Head Athletic Trainer at Concordia University Ann Arbor. Dan completed his two undergraduate degrees in 2008 at Concordia University Chicago (Exercise Science as well as Secondary Education PE) and his Masters in Athletic Training degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC (2014).
